Time for some deliciousness? We recently caught up (online!) with Meredith, the owner of Dough Re Me Cookies in Wagga Wagga NSW, who's known locally as The Cookie Queen. And with good reason. Meredith and her team make an incredible range of cookies that you can order online and get delivered to your door anywhere in Australia.
Meredith is also the first to donate a prize to our online competition on pets and holidays. Enter and win a $50 Easter cookie basket filled with enough yumminess to cheer everyone up.
What do you love about living in Wagga?
It's going to sound cliché, but so many reasons. The fact that it takes me 8 minutes to get from my home to my shop, that all my post office ladies know me and my team, that my kids have a back yard (something we could never afford when we were living in Sydney), and the biggest reason - the community.
There is such a support from people in the Riverina who start up businesses and they are a massive reason why I have been able to grow and employee people to create a team.
Why did you start your business and what do you love about running it?
Dough Re Mi started in 2016 as we love to bake. It's as simple as that. Why not create a job doing something that you love?
It's a roller coaster ride and I love it. The ups and the downs are all part of the ride but it really is such an adventure. I recently opened the doors to the Dough Re Mi shop in Wagga Wagga - so I'm currently in the free fall screaming portion of the ride ha ha !
Where are your favourite places to visit in your area?
My childhood farm, still owned and run by my family. So many memories, and I love it when my kids get to spend time there with their grandparents. It's so nice to be in a space where it's quiet and still. I just love the country.
Where would we find you at 10.00 am on a Sunday?
Sunday is my day off - so it includes a sleep in but I do have a 8 year old and a 5 year old so my sleep does get interrupted. But by 10.00 am everyone is up and we will be making our pancake breakfast - a Sunday morning tradition.
