Tea festival, 24 - 26 May 2019 Orange NSW

For tea and food lovers, the Tea Karts Tea Festival, being held in Orange from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May is a dream come true! It's a three day celebration of specialty loose leaf tea and delicious local food, organised by local certified tea blender Katja Williams. There are events on tea history and culture, matching food and tea, the essentials of high tea etiquette, tea tasting and even a Kombucha workshop. So gather your friends and family and head along to this one of a kind Festival. To whet your appetite, here's a look at what’s on the program. 

Food & Tea Pairing Dinner Friday 24 May, 6pm ($60 - $80)

Celebrate the opening night of the festival with a delicious four course dinner with matching teas at Charred Kitchen & Bar. With local produce the highlight of the menu, learn how to match your tea to your food to enhance the flavour and experience of your meal. 

A High Tea History Workshop Saturday 25 May, 10am ($40 - $60)

Learn from the experts all there is to know about the history, tradition and luxury that makes a High Tea. From the 17th century until now, how has High Tea changed? And of course there'll be a delicious selection of food to enjoy as elegantly you sip on your cuppa! 

Modern High Tea Etiquette Workshop Saturday 25 May, 1pm ($65 - $80)

Do you know the correct way to ‘take tea’? Here you’ll learn the do’s and don’ts of High Tea. It’ll be an fascinating interactive session exploring the history and a fun-filled experience learning the do’s and don’ts of High Tea. Delicious food will accompany your tea including a delights such as smoked salmon tartlets, french lemon mini-tarts, and waffles with chocolate panna cotta. Yum!  

Tea Tasting Session Saturday 25 May, 4pm  ($35 - $50)

Join event organiser and Tea Karts certified tea blender, Katja Williams, for afternoon tea and tea tasting at Zona Kitchen Bar. You’ll explore the tea flavours of the world and immerse yourself in the pleasure of loose leaf tea blends, while enjoying a selection of slices, biscuits and sandwiches.

Formal Dinner Saturday 25 May, 7pm ($110)

Zona Kitchen Bar (image below) will showcase the Orange regions finest produce – with local food, wine and tea all from the Central West featured in the dinner menu. It’ll be an opportunity to talk with festival speakers about tea blending and their craft.  

DIY Tea Blending Workshop Sunday 26 May, 9.30 am ($65 - $90)

Join expert tea blenders and try your hand at creating your own custom blend of tea with a side of morning tea including sweet muffins, pastries, plus cheese and biscuits. You’ll have the help of certified tea blenders Katja Williams and Victoria Henderson, to make your perfect brew. Top off a wonderful event with your own tea blend to take home. 

Kombucha Workshop Sunday 26 May, 1.00 pm ($80)

Join Christine , local fermenter who has been a passionate educator since 2009 at the Tea Karts Tea Festival for this fantastic workshop. Learn all about Kombucha, the health benefits, the history, how to make and care for your living culture as well as trouble shooting. There'll be food treats to alos enjoy as learn how to make this delicious health elixer. You will even take home your very own living Kombucha SCOBY (value $25+) and a bottle of ready to drink Kombucha that you have flavored in class ($15+ value). Come along and learn skills that will Nourish You For Life!
