Scrumptious on Summer Café
If you're vegan, it can be challenging knowing where to eat, especially if you are planning on exploring parts of country Australia. Luckily, vegan eateries are becoming more mainstream, even in our regional areas.
We are discovering that plant-based eating is not just something to be enjoyed in the cities. Quite often, in your regional areas, you will see cafes and restaurants that have adopted the process of paddock to plate, and you can enjoy plant-based dishes filled with the freshest of local ingredients.
If you are visiting the area of Bathurst, Orange or Millthorpe and prefer having access to vegan food, this is the guide for you. Following are our recommendations of where to go in Bathurst, Orange, and Millthorpe for vegan eating.
The owner of Piccolo’s on William also owns Pear Tree Wholefoods, located right next door to the café. This unique set up allows Piccolo’s on William to use the best seasonal and local wholefood ingredients. Customers can go shopping after they have enjoyed a meal. While Piccolo’s on William is not a vegan eatery, the staff reassure their customers that they can do vegan alternatives of everything that is on the menu.
Piccolo’s on William is passionate about serving tasty, wholesome, and healthy food. On the menu, you will find delicious breakfast and lunch items such as their famous Lumberjack Breakfast and one of the best burgers in Bathurst.
As well as a tempting savoury menu, they prepare all their cakes on the premises. Not only will you find vegan baked treats, but you will also find paleo, organic and gluten-free options. Piccolo’s on William has an extensive range of juices and smoothies made using local ingredients and a full variety of plant-based milk for their teas and coffees.

Bodhi Garden Vegetarian Restaurant in Orange offers a veritable feast of plant-based dining options. Their extensive menu includes vegetarian dishes inspired by the tastes of Chinese cuisine. All the meals on their vegetarian menu, apart from the Wonton Soup, are available as vegan dishes. They simply ask that you alert the staff to your vegan preferences, so any egg or milk-based ingredients can be omitted.
The Bodhi Garden Vegetarian Restaurant is ideal for both lunch and dinner, and as it is popular, we recommend booking your table in advance. Some of the dishes that you might enjoy include Kebabs with Satay Sauce, Tasty Bean Curd Ties and Bodhi Garden Cabbage Rolls.
