This green valley in the foothills of the high country is an ode to Italy. Italian migrants arrived in the 1940s and 50s and planted vineyards in King Valley, bringing years of winemaking expertise and a passion for ‘La Dolce Vita’ - the sweet life. Today, food and wine is at the centre of King Valley life. Sip bubbles on the Prosecco Road, or go for a gourmet ride. Visitors to Milawa can rent a bike and pedal through the countryside, stopping in small towns to fill a basket with cheeses, olives, honey and of course, wines from local businesses. The Taungurung people are the traditional custodians of this land.
